BigBand Networks Wins Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Award
BigBand’s Modular CMTS solution named best cable video/data/voice last mile transmission technology by leading European publication

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 19, 2007—BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBND) today announced that its Modular CMTS (M-CMTS) solution won a product of the year designation at this year’s Cable & Satellite International (CSI) Awards. BigBand’s solution was selected in the category of “Best Cable Video/Data/Voice Last Mile Transmission Technology,” at a special ceremony during the IBC 2007 exhibition in Amsterdam. BigBand’s M-CMTS solution migrates key functionality traditionally performed by the CMTS equipment onto its next-generation edge quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) platform to lower the cost of service delivery
“This award is a great honor for BigBand Networks, and validates the innovation the company has built into its next-generation edge QAM,” said John Holobinko, BigBand’s vice president and general manager of cable IP. “Migrating CMTS functionality to the edge QAM may make traditional, integrated CMTS obsolete, as it can reduce the cost per downstream channel by as much as 75 percent. This is the first of a series of steps BigBand is taking toward far more efficient, economical media delivery.”
