All for One; One for All

DOCSIS® defines interface requirements for cable modems involved in high-speed data distribution over cable television system networks. Developed by CableLabs, DOCSIS specifications are essential to fostering new technologies and helping our industry integrate those advancements into meeting key business objectives.

Always open at BigBand

BigBand recognizes that enabling interoperability and supporting standards is more important than ever. That's why you'll find we support the following CableLabs projects:

  • Modular CMTS (M-CMTS) – M-CMTS architecture reduces costs for DOCSIS downstream expansion by separating the downstream Radio Frequency (RF) processing from the CMTS core and moving it to edgeQAMs, like the BigBand BEQ™6000 Universal Edge QAM. The BEQ6000 supports both wideband M-CMTS and M-CMTS solutions delivered using existing cable modems.

  • Modular Headend Architecture (MHA)—CableLabs created MHA to encourage the deployment of high-value, narrowcast digital services by providing a framework that allowed cable network resources to be shared among narrowcast services, such as Switched Digital Video (SDV), Video on Demand (VOD) and data services. BigBand BEQ6000 enables this resource sharing and pooling, thus reducing the costs of delivering narrowcast services.

  • DOCSIS 3.0 – BigBand BEQ6000 offers a seamless migration path to full DOCSIS 3.0 support, integrating both M-CMTS and MHA functionality, while making higher speed data tiers possible via the DOCSIS 3.0 downstream channel-bonding feature.

Commitment to DOCSIS— One more way BigBand moves the pictures that move you.
