BigBand Networks enjoys a position as the largest supplier of universal edge QAMs to cable operators who are participating in triple play opportunities.
We seek a Product Manager for our current generation and next generation universal edgeQAM platforms sold to cable operators. BigBand’s industry leading universal edgeQAMs are used by many of the world’s largest cable operators for advanced applications, including switched digital video, video on demand and broadcast applications.

The PM must be able to identify customer requirements, business opportunities and define the business strategy necessary to achieve edgeQAM revenue and growth objectives. The PM must be experienced in articulating these functional requirements to edgeQAM hardware and software product managers.
In order to do this, the candidate must have strong applications level experience in cable television video performance, including specific knowledge of video formats such as MPEG2 and MPEG 4, digital video encryption methods currently employed by cable operators, RF cable headend design and video performance standards, plus operational challenges faced by cable operators. The candidate also requires a strong understanding of cable TV headend design and RF performance as it specifically relates to QAMs.
Working closely with the sales force and sales engineers, providing product value messaging, economic modeling and competitive ammunition that enable sales to clearly differentiate BigBand’s edgeQAM products and convince customers of their superior value. Working with the sales forecasting system and based on relationships built with the sales force, provide product forecasts to enable operations to meet customer delivery requirements and optimize inventories.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience within cable television industry including direct experience working intimately with QAM products, either at an equipment manufacturer or cable operator. This position requires the ability to create effective presentations to build and deliver financial models based on cable operator’s business operations. The ability to present a compelling argument and create strong business relationships based on personal credibility is essential.
